This has fixed a ton of problems I've had with games that act wonky with the DS4, like Trine seeing multiple inputs. bat file temporarily disables explorer.exe so Windows doesn't have a chance to recognize DS4 proper, and it only sees the virtual X360 controller. (Exclusive mode is buggy in win 10 still).įor anyone that's having weird troubles with InputMapper, it's probably because the exclusive mode doesn't work quite right in Windows 10 which means Windows sees the DS4 Controller and the virtual X360 Controller. And honestly when a gane has dinput 9 times out of ten a ps4 controller has issues for me as its typically mapped for other types of controllers and when you use xinput you get double input. Ita pretty standard to use input mapper or ds4windows, check those out if you havent. but only accepting one type of controller is really silly to be acceptable for a definition of that tag.įull controller support doesnt mean all controller support, it just means the game can be played fully with a controller and not just m/kb. I mean I get that you can't support every weird controller. This is all rather frustrating, and this has even lead to me doing a few steam returns in trying to find a game to play, with a few games that I got and am now just waiting to play on my desktop at home.
I feel there should be an XInput only tag, instead of this "Full Controller Support" tag on steam. So, recently I have been on a spree on steam with the sales of course buying games, and have become very frustrated with what games seem to be XInput only, and I feel that is somewhat dishonest to have a tag that says full controller support when it only natively accepts one type of controller at all.
PS4 controller is basically plug and play on Mac, but there is no real good solution for games that only accept XInput games on Mac, unlike on PC where you can download some programs. I have an Xbox One and a PS4 controller, and I very much prefer my PS4 controller for games, so I left my Xbox One controller with my desktop. I am away from my main PC for a while, so I am mostly playing games on my macbook pro while I am gone. I know this is somewhat of a special case what I am about to describe, but I suppose the premise that all these games that only accept XInput as being listed as having full controller support on steam has become quite a pain for me lately.
