Much like Rez, your character's shape morphed and changed depending on your health level, eliminating any unnecessary GUI elements to provide a clean and unadulterated gameplay experience.
The premise was simple: guide your line-based character Vibri along a two-dimensional path, pressing buttons to the beat of the background music in order to avoid the many obstacles in your path. Only available in Japan and nearly incomprehensible regardless of language was the strange and hypnotizing Vib Ribbon, a different kind of music-based game from the same developers as Parappa, NanaOn-Sha. Though PaRappa the Rapper may have had a good time punching with Master Onion back in the late 90s, there was another music game whose obscurity was only outmatched by its uniqueness.
